Workshop on Internet Congestion Management, QoS and Interconnection
The goal of this workshop is to help stimulate collaborative multidisciplinary, industry/academic research directed toward identifying acceptable industry approaches for traffic management in the Internet. The need for this workshop and the research agenda it seeks o help fram is evidenced by the tensions arising from the rapid growth of Internet broadband traffic, the responses by operators seeking to manage this traffic, and the resultant risks to continued growth and end-to-end (e2e) connectivity in the Internet. The focus is on framing, identifying, and evaluating congestion management mechanisms in broadband access networks, and relating such mechanisms to the larger context of providing end-to-end QoS in a multicarrier environment (thereby engaging interconnection issues). Some of the topics to be addressed include:
The conference will start at mid-day on October 21 and continue for a full-day on the 22nd. The workshop will have a mix of framing talks, presentation of preliminary research and panel discussions, with ample time reserved for group discussion within sessions and during breaks.
